GoldBod Grants Second Aggregator License to IB Impex Limited

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued an aggregator license to IB Impex Limited, authorising the company to aggregate gold on behalf of the state’s sole gold purchasing agency.

With the approval, IB Impex becomes the second firm to receive the license, following Bawa Rock Limited, as part of GoldBod’s structured gold purchasing and supply framework.

The aggregator license permits licensed entities to purchase and consolidate gold exclusively from licensed miners and approved Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers for onward supply to GoldBod.

Under the arrangement, aggregators operate with seed financing support from the Board, reinforcing a centralized and traceable gold trading system.

GoldBod introduced the aggregator model as part of broader reforms to formalise gold transactions, strengthen compliance, and streamline the flow of gold from production points to the national purchasing authority.

To qualify for an aggregator license, applicants must meet stringent financial and regulatory requirements.

These include Ghanaian ownership, substantial working capital backed by verifiable bank statements, and a demonstrated track record in gold trading over the past three years.

Applicants are also required to provide either a full bank guarantee covering the trade capital sought from GoldBod or an Advance Payment Guarantee with a counter-indemnity instrument issued by a recognised financial institution, in line with GoldBod’s insurance policy framework.

In addition, companies must present valid tax clearance and SSNIT clearance certificates to demonstrate compliance with statutory obligations.

The licensing of IB Impex Limited signals GoldBod’s continued rollout of its gold aggregation regime, aimed at strengthening oversight, improving value retention, and ensuring that gold purchased within the formal system is efficiently channeled into the national gold purchasing programme.
