GoldBod’s Jewellery rebranding: Dr. Mantaew, Franklin Cudjoe cite value addition boost
Chairman of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), Dr. Steve Manteaw, has described the rebranding of GoldBod’s jewellery arm as a game-changer in efforts to enhance value addition in Ghana’s gold industry.
According to him, the subsidiary is well positioned to leverage Ghana’s reputation as a leading gold-producing country while creating greater value from the country’s mineral resources.
Taking to his official Facebook page to comment on the rebranding of PMMC Jewellery Limited as GoldBod Jewellery Limited, Dr. Manteaw noted that value addition could significantly benefit the country’s gold industry.
“Value addition is a game changer in this business. It adds value to our minerals, fetches more export revenue, creates jobs, and related to it, additional tax revenue at both corporate and personal levels,” he stated.
Meanwhile, on the same platform, the founding president of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, commended GoldBod for its efforts to add value to Ghana’s gold resources and encouraged citizens to purchase and invest in gold, including jewellery.
“Folks, gold has proven to be the safest and most reliable store of value. Why not purchase and invest in gold, yes, including jewellery,” he wrote.
The state-run agency recently announced the restructuring and rebranding of its wholly owned Ghanaian jewellery manufacturing company, which was incorporated in 2016.
The move is aimed at providing customers with authentic and exquisite locally crafted jewellery and ornaments while encouraging greater patronage of Made-in-Ghana jewellery.
With about seven showrooms located at Diamond House, East Legon, Marina Mall-Spintex, Tema, Osu, Kumasi Airport, and Adum, customers can access a wide range of Ghanaian jewellery crafted by the jewellery firm.
