Update On Gold Smuggling Case: Two Wanted Suspects in Custody and Arraigned Before the High Court

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has secured the arrest of Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals earlier declared wanted for their alleged roles in an ongoing criminal prosecution involving gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and the transportation of gold without a licence, among other offences.

Both suspects voluntarily turned themselves in and have since been arraigned before the High Court to face prosecution for their alleged involvement in the gold smuggling syndicate.

The court has granted them bail, the conditions of which are yet to be met. Consequently, they remain in lawful custody pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions and the continuation of court proceedings.

Meanwhile, two other wanted individuals, Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam, remain at large.

The public is urged to provide any information regarding their whereabouts to the Ghana Police Service or the Ghana Gold Board.

The bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GH¢1,000,000) per person remains active for credible information leading to their arrest.
