GoldBod Joins National Sanitation Drive, Cleans Makola Environs

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has joined the two-day nationwide cleaning initiative announced by President John Dramani Mahama, with management and staff participating in the clean-up exercise aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness and public health after the June 29 floods.

The exercise, led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Richard Nunekpeku, Esq., commenced at 8:30 a.m. with staff divided into six teams to clean various sections of the GoldBod Headquarters, including the office premises, visitors’ car park, and drainage systems.

After completing the clean-up within the office compound, the six teams converged to extend the exercise to surrounding public areas, desilting choked gutters and clearing refuse around the Ghana Library Authority, the SIC Mall, and parts of the Makola Market enclave.

Directors of the various departments joined the Deputy CEO in actively participating alongside staff, demonstrating GoldBod’s commitment to leading by example in the national sanitation drive.

The exercise reflects GoldBod’s belief that national development extends beyond its mandate of formalising Ghana’s gold trading sector.

By supporting initiatives that promote cleaner communities and healthier environments, the Board continues to contribute to national development while encouraging collective responsibility in building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Ghana.
