GoldBod Signs Agreement with GGSA for Geological Investigations in Funsi, Atuna and Bensere East
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has signed an agreement with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) for geological investigations in respect of mineralised blocked-out areas in Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East.
The agreement represents a major step by GoldBod as part of efforts to promote responsible, sustainable, and data-driven mining practices in Ghana.
Signed on March 16, 2026, the agreement marks a significant milestone in GoldBod’s efforts to generate credible geological data to support the establishment of model mines across the country.
Under Phase One of the project, the Ghana Geological Survey Authority will conduct geological investigation services over a four-month period at a cost of GH¢27.5 million.
The three mineralised areas—Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East—form part of 20 blocked-out mineralised zones released to the Ghana Gold Board by the Minerals Commission of Ghana for further assessment and development.
The initiative is expected to provide reliable geological information to guide mining investments, improve transparency in mineral resource management, and support the development of responsible small-scale mining operations.
Through initiatives such as this, the Ghana Gold Board continues to advance its mandate of supporting sustainable mining practices while working to maximise Ghana’s gold output and ensure that the country derives greater value from its mineral resources.
